PLEXUS OR THE CITY OF INFINITE PLEASURE. Metropolitan planning has historically surrendered to random complexity, a false notion of progress, obsolete rules of zoning and its intrinsic governmental corruption, and perhaps even worse, to forces of speculative development that rarely leads towards collective wellbeing. How can we use the disruptive events of today –particularly after the pandemic, in promoting a new city paradigm for tomorrow? Can we introduce a new agenda of public spaces and parks that can truly change our quality of living? How can we use networks and systems thinking in this regard? This talk focuses on the introduction of agency of change; its challenges and methodologies, taken out of real cases of struggle and success.

INTEGRATION BETWEEN ARCHITECTURE AND LANDSCAPING AS THE CONSTRUCTION OF A SUSTAINABLE LANDSCAPE. The environment of the architect and the landscaper is the landscape formed by built and natural elements. How can we act with a strategic vision and beyond the pre-established limits between the different areas of our profession, in favor of more efficient and sustainable projects.

ACCESS TO RISK IN LARGE TREES AND PALM TREES. The large trees and palms have a great prominence in landscaping projects. However, with big plants comes great responsibilities. Adult trees provide countless benefits, however it is essential to know their biomechanical and physiological structure to understand when something indicates a risky situation.

NATURE-BASED SOLUTIONS FOR CONTEMPORARY CHALLENGES. Cities face increasing challenges related to the mode of urbanization, which are being aggravated by the climate crisis. Historically, people have been left out of decisions taken at high political levels by ‘experts’ in different areas, in a disconnected way. Nature-based solutions are presented in this context as innovative alternatives, specific to each location, which can significantly contribute to regenerating essential ecological functions, combined with multiple human uses. In the lecture, successful case studies will be presented in different scales and cities around the world.

THE SECRET BAY STORY: ALLOWING THE NATURAL ENVIRONMENT TO DICTATE HOW REAL ESTATE IS DEVELOPED. The lecture explains the ecological and sustainable practices at Secret Bay in Dominica - from construction, development and landscaping through to day to day hotel operations – and how this award-winning Caribbean resort continues to stay true to its environmental goals.

REGIONAL NATIVE PLANTS: PERSPECTIVES AND CHALLENGES FOR USE IN LANDSCAPING. The landscape designer, when working with the elements of nature, intervenes in the landscape, both natural and built. In the search for an integrated landscape, related to ecology, landscape and environment, it is necessary to use native regional species to guarantee beauty, functionality and durability of the landscape project. The lecture will address the main perspectives, challenges and potentials for regional native species and their uses.

Landscaping has extension and influence in 5 of the items evaluated by the LEED graduation, the most present in Brazil and promoted by GBC, ranking second in the world ranking of certified works: Sustainable Space, Water Use Efficiency, Energy and Atmosphere, Quality Internal Environmental and Regional Priority Credits

JARDINS DE CERRADO TO CELEBRATE SAVANNAS AND GRASSLANDS OF CENTRAL BRAZIL. Through her gardens, landscape architect Mariana Siqueira seeks to express the aesthetic and ecological values of savannas and grasslands in Brazil. By bringing native grasses, herbs and shrubs to urban environments, her goal is to inspire the appreciation and conservation of these important and neglected landscapes.

APP FOR CHOOSING PLANTS FOR LANDSCAPING PROJECTS AND @COMERCE IN NURSERIES. By reviewing the historical paradigm of arboriculture and urban landscaping, it is possible to analyze the current international green trends in the post-industrial city and find keys to green multiscale landscape infrastructure. The concept of plant typology for the choice of species in the landscaping project would take biodiversity into account and should be available in a typological database in real time and accessible for an App shared in the productive / nursery, designer / landscape and social complex / gardener. This organized information would increase the benefits of the Landscape Project in its landscape ecogenesis, urban bioclimatic and residential habitat quality: invaluable contributions to sustainability and quality of life.

EFFICIENT IRRIGATION IN SUSTAINABLE PROJECTS – THE INTELLIGENT USE OF WATER. The best and most sustainable ways to use water in landscaping. "The intelligent use of water" - the irrigation system for the use of rainwater and water reuse, generating environmental and financial savings.

QUALITY OF SEEDLINGS FOR LANDSCAPING. The cultivation and proper management of ornamental seedlings guarantee the sustainability of the landscaping chain. The lecture presents the best practices in nurseries, from the collection of seed processing, to types of substrates, environments and packaging for sowing, nutritional and water management, selection of seedlings and expedition.
