Green roof, green roof, green roof or garden roof are some of the names given to the ecological solution that has become an international trend. Green roofs have conquered the world not only for their beauty, but for offering benefits such as: control of heat in construction, retention of rainwater for reuse, filtering of air pollution, moisture balance, among many others.
Several countries have been increasingly concerned with sustainability and architects, designers, engineers and landscapers and several other professionals are working to offer more efficient ecological solutions that provide several benefits for the environment and consequently for people. And one of the ecological solutions that is gaining the world is green roofs.
As one of the great functions of the landscaper is to keep up to date on the trends of his career, we separated 10 international buildings with green roofs so as not to lack inspiration in his next projects. And to make your reading even more interesting we highlight a curiosity about each project.

1. Vancouver Convention Centre
Location: Vancouver – Canada
Curiosity: The building sustained on water, which has 400,000 native plants on the green roof alone, has achieved LEED Platinum certification, making it a leader in environmental sustainability in this regard.
2. Sky Garden House
Location: Sentosa Island - Singapore
Curiosity: In this 4-story luxury home, slow-growing plants were used to facilitate maintenance.
3. Acros Fukuoka Prefectural International Hall
Location: Fukuoka – Japan
Curiosity: This 100,000 m² green building has a section open to the public.
4. Chicago City Hall
Location: Chicago - United States of America
Curiosity: The city hall has 20,000 plants of more than 150 species.
5. Moesgaard Museum
Location: Århus – Denmark
Curiosity: The roof composed of grass, moss and wild flowers is open to the public, even allowing them to have picnics, barbecues and lectures.
6. Alcântara Etar
Location: Lisboa – Portugal
Curiosity: The 2-hectare green roof was built under a Wastewater Treatment Plant.
7. Biesbosch Museum
Location: Werkendam – Netherlands
Curiosity: Visitors can stroll along a walkway installed on the roof that leads to a lookout where you can admire the Biesbosch National park.
8. School of Art, Design and Media
Location: Nanyang – Singapore
Curiosity: The 2 roofs, in addition to being covered only by grass, have a 45º inclination angle.
9. Casa Vallarta
Location: Puerto Vallarta – Mexico
Curiosity: The roof alone has 750 m² of garden.
10. Millennium Park
Location: Chicago – Estados Unidos
Curiosity: The park is considered a green roof, as it was installed under an underground garage. With more than 24 hectares of extension, it is one of the largest green roofs in the world.
These are some fascinating green roof designs around the world. That they should inspire not only for their beauty and grandeur, but for sketching an issue so important that it has long been forgotten, sustainability. It is everyone's obligation to be concerned about the future of our planet.
